So some may call me a slow learner. Shoot, maybe I am. But as I learn, I’ll share. I get excited when I learn new things, when something really “clicks” inside. You all know what I’m talking about when something registers with you, you know it. So for a long time I’ve battled how to keep posting on here. Afterall, this IS a photography blog. I mean, geez, it should be a no-brainer right? Well for me it’s NEVER that simple. I constantly try and figure out where God fits into it and I think that’s how it’s supposed to be. So I asked God, how do you want me to handle this… Afterall, the bible says to seek God in all things with prayer. So that’s what I did. And then something amazing happened. He answered me with in a dream. Yeah, I know some people don’t think that God REALLY speaks to people that way but he does to me. I think partly because I over analyze everything, I talk alot and the only time I slow down enough to listen is while I’m dreaming in la-la land. Anyone who knows me knows they RARELY get a word in edgewise. Sorry girls!! :) So I’m gonna share my dream with you so that way you understand where I am going with this and where I INTEND to go with it.
Dream:
I just booked a senior session. I was going to be photographing a young girl. Her mom was the one booking with me on behalf of her daughter. The tension was thick. I could tell she was uneasy about something, she was looking at me as if she couldn’t pinpoint what was “different” about me. Me, obviously feeling the tension, blurted out: I’m a Christian. Releif FLOODED her face. She said oh Thank God!! (stay with me here) Then the dream shifts and My husband (God-the man should be the head of the household, in my dreams my husband has always symbolized God) is driving me to the photoshoot and the senior girl and I are passengers. Well we left on what was MY perfect time, it was perfectly overcast the weather was just peachy. Well we’re traveling and then suddenly there are clouds ahead and I tell my husband, let’s go back to where it was nice and not cloudy. He said no, I will not go backwards, we will only go forward, so I brace myself for what I expect to be bad weather to find it was only a few dark clouds. On the other side? BEAUTIFUL scenery, wonderful fields, beautiful flowers, perfectly blue sky and just the perfect amount of sun shining through.
What does all of this mean? I knew instantly!! I asked God about having two seperate blogs, one for business, one for God. He expects me to not seperate my business from my own personal lifestyle which IS living for God. (relief of mom who booked me-knowing I was Christian…they CAN coincide) And then by making this decision and posting THIS blog I KNOW I will receive opposition (clouds) I will be laughed at, I will be mocked by peers or looked at differently. This is all OKAY with me. I cannot be shaken. Know why? God (hubby in the dream) is in the drivers seat. I’ve surrendered control of every aspect of my life to him and he IS NOW and will ALWAYS be in the drivers seat. And in the dream he specifically said, I will not go backwards, I will ONLY go forward. And what happened? He brought me to a place of beauty I had NEVER seen before. Only God can do things like that.
So there it is folks. From here on out, if I feel pressed to share something (which I often do I just don’t for PAST fear of judgement) I will share it. So when you visit, you may be getting pictures, you may be getting a piece of me. Hope you can handle it!!!
Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Much love to all my peeps!

thats great Dawn! I love it! you know, if someone doesn’t like you “blogging” about God or talking about being Christian, those are exactly the ones that need to read your words. What better way to witness to others, not only are you living it, but preaching it and letting your light shine! And then there are those of us that enjoy reading your messages. They are usually very powerful! Thanks, Dawn and keep it up!
