The Simple Things

So I’ve been thinking lately….. I’ve been thinking about what makes me smile, what small things happen throughout the day that make it more enjoyable.  The things that mean nothing to someone but everything to me.  What are my simple pleasures?

My simple pleasures are my children, waking up to them every single morning knowing that I’ve been given the most awesome responsibility in the world!!

A warm towel out of the dryer

The smell of bacon in the morning

The sound of Sam chasing our puppy around the house (even though sometimes he’s quite dangerous -sam that is :) )

The sound of my children walking through the backdoor after school and that I am here to welcome them.

A sonic strawberry slush

An encouraging note or text from a friend

Going to sleep at night with the sound of the dishwasher running

Finding spare change in an old winter coat

Fresh sheets on my big beautiful bed

A fully stocked fridge and pantry

The sound of my husband laughing

A good hair day

Summertime sno-cones

Hearing my favorite song on the radio

An open drawbridge on my way off the island :)

These things make me happy.  A LOT of things make me happy but these are the simple things that just put it over the top wonderful for me!

What are YOUR simple pleasures?

I don’t live on “the island” but when I have to venture there–the drawbridge being open both ways is the best feeling ever!!!

My simple pleasures: the smile on my daughters face as I paint her fingernails, the text I get every morning from my husband about sweet nothings, the dimple on Logan’s left cheek when he smiles, when my babies say “Bye momma I love you have a good day!

the smell of fresh baked bread. Especially first thing in the AM. Brewing coffee. My husbands absent minded caress as he walks by. the slimey, squirmy newborn creature that the doctor tosses on your chest. fresh cut grass. a gentle rain. PUDDLE STOMPING! I’d better stop before I totally hijack your blog!
