The things in bloom

I arrived to a photoshoot about a week ago a few minutes early.  I took the opportunity to walk around outside instead of waiting in my car.  It was a BEAUTIFUL afternoon, the sun shining bright, the wind blowing just perfectly and the sound of……well nothing.  I love how God makes nature so quiet and serene.  A place of escape almost.  It’s ours and it’s free and if you haven’t noticed it’s GORGEOUS!!  I walked until I came upon a bush that had an array of flowers.  Some were fully blossomed and some were mere babies, just waiting for their chance to bloom.  I stood there and studied something as simple as a flower.  I thought about the different seasons and how everything has to be just right just so that bush can produce a flower.  It has to get the right amount of water, sunshine and be a perfect temperature to obtain and MAINTAIN life.

This flower waiting to blossom is like so many of us today.  We’ve all been planted.  Some of us have been watered, some of us have seen the sun.  Two very important things in our walk with Christ.  Are you allowing yourself the proper nutrition to make sure you blossom?

Recently I started teaching at our church.  It was something I felt led and very excited to do.  The first two weeks with my kids were amazing.  Then last night I left feeling so discouraged.  I felt like who am I to think that I can teach these kids anything.  My class size had doubled and I felt so inadequate.  I came home and entertained all the ideas of my not being good enough to do what TRULY I feel the Lord wants me to.  Then the Holy Spirit spoke to me just as clear as you and I would holding a conversation.  He said:  Now, will you let me teach THROUGH you?  Two feelings immediately flooded me:  Relief and HUMILITY.  You see, I’m close enough to the Lord in my walk to know in an instant when something’s not right in my spirit and thank God for the Holy Spirit because last night he checked me.  He was right.  Who AM I to think I can teach these kids?  I’m merely someone God called.  HE is the one who qualifies those called!  So as I embark on this new journey of teaching I’m stepping out into the light, receiving the SON and being faithful to church so I stay watered.  The Lord wants us to all be beautiful things in HIM.  And in order to do that we have to submit to a certain element of risk.  We have to step out of our comfort zones in complete submission to the Lord and trust that his plan for us is to become this:

“…And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8

So, a looooong time ago back when I still had Facebook Tonya asked me to get some pics of her and her hubby.  They are a beautiful couple and just recently celebrated 18 years of marriage.  I think Tonya said the last time they had pics was over 10 years ago :O  Well we have recently become really good friends and now she’ll NEVER be allowed to wait that long again!! :)  And not only are these two a beautiful couple, they have a beautiful ministry as well.  They are evangelists and in my opinion the best I’ve heard!  I hope you love your pics guys!!!

Who wants a free bible?

Well the question SHOULD be, who doesn’t want a free bible?  That’s right folks, I’m holding a giveaway!  A contest, if you will.  The winner will receive a brand new study bible.  Here’s the rules:

I DARE YOU TO BLESS

A couple of months ago I decided that I would try and bless someone, somehow EVERYDAY.  It was a challenge!!  It forced me to think about things other than what’s going on in my immediate circle.  I looked at people differently.  I looked at them with eyes that were more sensitive and a heart that was more tender.  I asked myself, what is SHE going through today or what is HE going through that I, as an outsider, could do to help make their day a little better.  So by searching my heart and seeking God, I was able to think more like Jesus would.  I was sensitive to people who maybe needed a word of encouragement, who needed a meal cooked because they were having a bad week or a sickness maybe.  I thought about teachers who were standing out in the cold and needed a hot cup of coffee in the morning.  I thought about how that single mom doesn’t have time to clean her house because she works two jobs.  I thought about how my best friend needed a hug today.

I thought about a lot.  I thought about how blessed I AM!

So here’s my challenge.  And to make it fair because some people can’t bless people with money I’m going to challenge you to think outside of your circle.  Bless someone else.  Open your eyes to the needs of others and see what you can do to help them.  Bless someone with works instead of money (unless God leads you to do so outside of this dare)   I encourage you to keep a journal of all the ways you were able to bless someone.  Email your submissions to me.  My email address is dawnatlamons@yahoo.com

I will be taking submissions until April 9th and the winner will be drawn on April 12th.

If someone reading this does not own a bible of any sort, please feel free to email me and I will see to it that you get one!

Lots of love and START BLESSING!

Dawn

P.S.  I can’t promise you that this won’t be a life changing experience for you :)  It was for me!!

Give and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.  For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.  Luke 6:38
